Ask anything. This is your therapy.
There are no “wrong” questions. Take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions below, or ask as much as you need to feel comfortable and informed — this process is for you.
Can hypnosis help me remember things I’ve forgotten, even from early childhood?
Hypnosis works with the subconscious mind, which stores memories and experiences from throughout your life. During a session, you may recall details that are relevant to the issue you’re working on, but the focus is always on healing and understanding—not on forcing memories. The goal is to help you gain insight, closure, and positive change in a safe, guided environment.
What if something upsetting comes up during hypnosis?
Many people worry about this, but you are never alone during the process. If difficult memories arise, they are explored in a supportive, controlled way to reframe them and reduce their emotional impact. The focus is on healing, growth, and moving forward.
Is deeper hypnosis more effective?
Not necessarily. Many therapeutic techniques work just as effectively in a light hypnotic state. Success depends more on your willingness to engage in the process than on how “deep” the hypnosis feels.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
No. There is no evidence that people can become stuck in hypnosis. At any point, you can naturally return to full awareness, and some people simply drift into ordinary sleep before waking normally.
Can someone hypnotise me against my will?
No. Hypnosis is a cooperative process, and you cannot be hypnotised without your consent. You remain aware of your surroundings and in control of your decisions throughout the session.
Does Medical Hypnoanalysis only treat symptoms?
No. Medical Hypnoanalysis aims to explore and address the underlying causes of an issue rather than simply managing its symptoms. By working with the root cause, it seeks to support lasting change and healthier patterns of thinking and behaviour.
Why use hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a tool to help you better understand yourself and facilitate positive change. You decide what you share with your therapist, and you remain in control throughout the process. The purpose is to support your personal healing and growth.
Will the hypnotherapist control my mind?
No. A hypnotherapist cannot control your mind or make you do anything against your values or wishes. You remain aware, retain free will, and can reject any suggestion that does not feel right for you.
Who responds best to hypnosis?
Most people who are open to the experience can benefit from hypnosis. In fact, individuals who are intelligent, creative, focused, or strong-willed often respond very well because they can concentrate deeply.
Is hypnosis compatible with my faith?
Many people of faith choose to use hypnosis as a therapeutic tool alongside their spiritual beliefs. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention that people experience in everyday life, such as when daydreaming or becoming absorbed in a task. If you have religious concerns, you are welcome to discuss them before beginning therapy.
What are the therapy fees?
Session fees vary depending on the type and length of therapy required. Standard appointments are 90 minutes, with 60-minute sessions available in certain circumstances. Please contact Alda directly for current consultation fees.
How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on your individual goals and the issues being addressed. Some people experience meaningful progress in a relatively short time, while others benefit from a longer therapeutic process. During your consultation, Alda can discuss a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Can I claim from my medical aid?
Coverage depends on your individual medical aid or health benefit plan. It’s best to check with your provider regarding available benefits, authorisation requirements, and annual limits. This is a cash practice, so consultations are paid directly by the client, who may then submit a claim to their medical aid if eligible.
